| Abstract | This text is designed to aid early childhood educators, music therapists, and music educators with creating music learning and literacy learning connections in the context of early childhood classrooms. A primary focus in early childhood education is cultivating literacy learning and communication in young children. These skills are an important part of school readiness, which affect the continued success of children as they move through the education system. A play-based, child-centered environment supports the growth and development of the individual while also accounting for developmental differences. The use of music in the early childhood setting accommodates all learners in a way that uses a multi-sensory approach, keeping children engaged and fostering a playful environment where every child is successful. This resource provides the link between literacy learning and music learning and details a variety of tools for those involved with the education of young children.--adapted from publisher's description. |
