| Abstract | This volume of essays on Spanish music in the eighteenth century covers stage genres, orchestral and instrumental music and vocal music (both sacred and secular). Traditional musicology has tended to see the Spanish eighteenth century as a period of decline, but this volume shows it to be rich in interest and achievement, and offers a new perspective on the relationship between Spanish music of the period and that of other countries, Italy and Austria in particular. |
