Heterogeneous nanocatalysis for energy and environmental sustainability / Putla Sudarsanam, Yusuke Yamauchi, Pankaj Bharali.

Contents volume 1. Energy applications -- volume 2. Environmental applications.
Abstract "Published in two volumes, this set of books discusses fundamental concepts and practical applications of heterogeneous nanocatalysis for alternative energy production green fuels, CO2 conversion, fuel cells and electrochemical energy conversion processes, clean water, and environmental protection. The volumes cover design and catalytic performance of various nanocatalysts including nanosized metals and metal oxides, supported metal nanoparticles, inverse oxide-metal nanocatalysts, core-shell nanocatalysts, nanoporous zeolites, nanocarbon composites, as well as metals and metal oxides in confined spaces (carbon nanotubes, hierarchical zeolites, MOFs, and mesoporous silicas). The structure-activity performance of nano-sized catalysts, and kinetic/mechanistic investigations of catalytic reactions in real-time are explored, and the volumes also present computational approaches for understanding mechanistic pathways. The catalytic performance and stability of nanoclusters (0.8-1 nm) with respect to nanoparticles (1-100 nm) is also provided in each chapter. In addition, opportunities and challenges for using nanosized catalysts for practical applications are critically discussed in each chapter. Volume 1, Heterogeneous Nanocatalysis for Energy and Environmental Sustainability: Energy Applications focuses on the conversion of renewable energy (biomass/solar) into green fuels and chemicals, clean hydrogen production and electrochemical energy conversion processes using a variety of nanosized catalysts. Volume 2, Heterogeneous Nanocatalysis for Energy and Environmental Sustainability: Environmental Applications focuses on the purification of auto-exhaust pollutants/volatile organic compounds, CO2 conversion, and wastewater treatment over a variety of nanosized catalysts"-- Provided by publisher.
