Abstract "With the inspiration, scholarly commitment, background and experience in the scientific basis and technology of fetal heart rate monitoring, Dr. Roger Freeman revered and recognized expert in the field, along with his first partner, Dr. Tom Garite, embarked on the creation of the first and foremost textbook in fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring in 1981. They dedicated this first edition to the founding fathers of FHR monitoring, Drs Edward Hon and Edward Qulligan. After the publication of this first edition, Dr. Michael Nageotte joined as the third author. This second edition and subsequently the third and fourth became the well-known and leading textbook on the subject. In the fourth and last edition published in 2003, Lisa Miller, CNM, JD was added as the fourth and final author. This book is also unique as it originally included only the primary authors. The textbook also became the backbone of many teaching conferences that Drs. Freeman, Garite, Nageotte, and Ms. Miller conducted around the country"-- Provided by publisher.
