Although initial studies have focused mainly on the plant and animal diseases by fungi, gradually fungal potential in sustainable biotechnology and bio prospects have been brought to limelight. Fungal biopolymers produced using lignocellulosic wastes have many industrial applications like drugs, restoration remedy (self-healing process), buosurfactants, bio composites and prebiotics (immunostimulants). Fungal bioactive metabolites have many prospective applications like volatiles, biofuels, antibiotics and toxins. Fungal fermentation is highly useful in food, feed and beverage industries. Fungal pigments besides usage as natural food colorants, they have precise applications in electronic devises. Fungal processes and functions will also be highly useful in bioremediation (e.g. oil spills and bioleaching).
