| Abstract | "The bioactive compounds produced by microorganisms and natural macromolecules have been used for treatment of human diseases and in veterinary sciences from ancient times. Modern science and technologies have discovered various drugs against pathogens including antibiotics, antimicrobial peptides and small molecules. As of today, we have a number of molecules for treatment or cure of diseases and they are being used in various forms. However, unlike previous times, many pathogens are acquiring drug resistance or jumping from other animals to humans. Currently, the world is experiencing pandemics caused by viruses and bacteria as well. Therefore, we already have ample challenges to be addressed"-- Provided by publisher. |
