The author met Douglas Yeo, bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, through mutual membership of the International Trombone Association. After a dozen years of correspondence the pinnacle of their relationship was reached when Douglas Yeo recorded an album of all bass trombone solos accompanied by the world famous Black Dyke Mills Band.
