| Abstract | Person County, N.C., family papers (1849-1890) including an account book (1857-1859, 1882-1890) that records the payment and receipt of money for a variety of goods. It also includes an 1859 estimate for the value of six African American slaves and the 1890 account of sales for the estate of Hugh Woods. Also includes a promissory note for $60 (March, 1849) and a letter from a tobacconist in Richmond, Virginia (October, 1866), discussing the price of tobacco and the costs involved in its transportation and sale. |
