Catherine LePrevost, PhD

Dr. LePrevost is an Associate Extension Professor and the Agromedicine Extension Specialist in the Department of Applied Ecology at NC State. She is also Coordinator of the NC Agromedicine Institute. Her training is in toxicology and science education. She is interested in science learning outside the classroom. Her work focuses on understanding how community health workers engage farmworkers and on increasing community health workers’ access to technology and professional development opportunities.

Jamie E. Bloss, MLIS, AHIP

Jamie Bloss, MLIS, AHIP is currently employed at Laupus Health Sciences Library as a liaison librarian to the College of Allied Health Sciences and the School of Dental Medicine at East Carolina University. She also teaches undergraduate information literacy courses as an adjunct instructor for Kent State University. Her interests include teaching information and digital literacy skills and evidence-based searching, and helping reduce health disparities and the digital divide for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families.

Beth has been Director of Laupus Library since 2015, and a practicing health sciences librarian for many years before that. Her past research interests have included information seeking behaviors of health sciences faculty and collection development practices in the digital era. She is very proud of the IMLS National Leadership Grant and the hard work and dedication that the team has put into researching digital equity and health literacy in the agricultural community in our state, and is thrilled by how directly this fits in with the service mission of East Carolina University.



Mary Roby, MLS

Mary Roby is the Assistant Director for User Services, Laupus Health Sciences Library, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. Her career spans over 30 years in small private liberal arts college libraries as a music librarian, reference librarian, cataloging librarian, and various administrative roles. She joined Laupus Library in 2018 where in her current position, she oversees the liaison program, instructional services, circulation services, research services, and outreach services.



Roger Russell, MLS

Roger is a native of Eastern NC and grew up in a rural farming community. He has been a faculty librarian at Laupus Library since 2001. In his current role, he manages day to day operations of Laupus Library and leads special projects like this one. His role on this grant is Principal Investigator, serving as the main point of contact and reporting for all operations on the grant.



Emery Harwell, BA
Social/Clinical Research Specialist

As an undergraduate Emery began working as a research assistant on a National Library of Medicine grant to improve digital literacy among farmworkers and deliver technology to outreach workers in North Carolina. With three years of experience, he now works as a coordinator on this Institute of Museum and Library Services grant to carry out research about digital equity. He is a 2020 graduate of North Carolina State University, where he majored in Political Science and Spanish.
